Chattanooga hotel restaurant source of foodborne illness outbreak

The Chattanoogan is reporting on a foodborne illness outbreak that the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department is investigating. 

Health Department officials said, "We received reports of persons that have become ill after attending an event Chattanooga Marriott Convention Center Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14. Reported symptoms include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

"On Monday, environmental health staff from the Health Department inspected kitchens at the Marriott and Trade Convention Center. No critical violations were found. The Health Department is following standard operating procedures to investigate possible causes of illness. At this time, the cause of the reports of illness is unknown.

"The Health Department will provide any follow-up needed."
