FDA inspections down amid food recalls
WASHINGTON -- The federal agency that's been front and center in warning the public about tainted spinach and contaminated peanut butter is conducting just half the food safety inspections it did three years ago.
The cuts by the Food and Drug Administration come despite a barrage of high-profile food recalls.
"We have a food safety crisis on the horizon," said Michael Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia.
My dog Tank died, Sept. 2006. He was very heatlhy dog, active and always alert. He started to become sluggish, lethargic, wouldn't drink water, as well as even eat. he had some what dirrahia. When we brought him to the Vet, he was sent home on a shot of anti botic. Then Brought back a few days later, but this time the Vet was concern, He had no idea what was wrong with him. He end up staying less then three days when he died. from this day we still have no clue of what had happen to him. He eat Purina Puppy Chow. And that was not even on the list of dog foods, so we didn't put two and two together. Until after all this posion with dog food.
